The Current Affairs Documentary
A UN Diplomat on the Front Line - Angela Kane and Syria's Chemical Weapons "It's a Sisyphean task -- but if you work for the UN, you have to want to change the world at least a little." Angela Kane is the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs -- the most senior German diplomat in the organization. Kane is a trusted advisor to Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon -- and a skillful diplomat who's very good at working behind the scenes. She's reliable, tenacious and efficient. In August 2013, the world public was shocked at reports that hundreds of people had been killed in a chemical-weapons attack near the Syrian town of Ghouta. The US blamed the Syrian government, and threatened to launch air strikes in response. Kane traveled to Damascus for negotiations with government officials -- and managed to convince them to allow a full investigation of the incident, and to destroy their arsenal of chemical weapons. The UN is now close to achieving its goal of eliminating Syria's chemical weapons by the end of this year -- and that's one of the highlights of Angela Kane's UN career. © Deutsche Welle Please note: DW.DE did not verify the identity of the sender. http://www.dw.de/close-up-the-current-affairs-documentary-2014-11-10/e-18002383-9798

More precisely, to be honest Madam Petra Schneider somehow I feel a moral obligation to send this error, i.e. information, to the United Nations Inter-Agency Security Management Network (IASMN). In hope for your understanding. With respect. FILIP CIKLEVSKI
